Just a question to thoughs with a 6 speed tranny in their 01-03 wrx preferably 03. how is it any negatives/positives. is it strong? let me know... thanks.

Pat is the man with the plan. The only downside I think he'll mention is $, other than that how can you go wrong?

(The ONLY complaint I've ever heard about the 6-speed is that it's gates are not as defined as the 5-speed making finding that gear just a hair bit easier on the 5mt)

I may have tore up my 6th gear on my last pass down the 1320, but honestly I have no real way of knowing how strong it is.

My understanding is that the major weakness of the 5mt is the case (case flex) which puts undue pressure on the i/o shafts which puts undue pressure on the gears. It is very apparent that the case on my transmission is much more durable and therefore it most probably causes a lot less stress on shafts and gears.
