keep or sell 5 speed Type Ra tranny for sti 6 speed

so i recently bought an 03 wrx and was swapped with a 5 speed type ra, i like it, but i don't like how much it kills my gas, do you think it'll be worth it to keep it or sell it and get a sti 6 speed? just wanted to know some opinions on what you guys would do.

Get an Sti 6-speed. It can handle pretty much anything you can throw at it. Strong as hell. Lots of shifting with this 6 speed though. Youll have to get used to that.

You'll get $1000-$1500 for your trans, MAYBE $2000 with the rear diff, axles, hubs, and brakes. Then you will need to spend $5000-8000 for the 6 speed parts, depending on if you do the trans/diff/axles only (04 sti) or everything with 5x114 hubs, brakes, suspension, and wheels. Labor will cost you another $500-1500.

Is it worth $4000-$8000 to get maybe 2-3mpg more?

Keep the RA x1000000000!!!

It's an excellent trans, plus if you go 6-speed, it's gonna cost a fortune and you will effectively be slower. More shifting = slower 1/4 mile times. Not saying you're gonna be racing everywhere, but it's a part of the equation that's often overlooked...

Unless you do a lot of highway commuting, I don't see the need for the 6-speed. The 5-speed RA trans is a fantastic transmission.
