what exactly (down to the 5mt nut and bolts) for a transmission swap...
Also if I get a 6 speed isn't the gear ratios tighter?

Dude...just part your car out and buy an STi or a 5-speed F-XT........The $$$$ it's going to take to do the swap would be better spent on a down payment on a new car.
Noooo, don't sell your car. You've spent too much money on it. It will be hard to get back a portion of what you put in your car.
Wait for a wrecked STi; it may take awhile, but I've seen them (I've actually seen 2) go as low as $3k for the entire car and the powertrain was still in great condition.
If you can swap a 5mt in your brother's 240, you can definitely swap one in a WRX.

i voted for the 5speed, but now, after reading the post, i don't know.
your car is quite unique being a 12 second auto, and if you do the swap might as well go for the 6speed.
hmmmmmm, so many options. traffic is a bizzatch though......
ok now i really don't know. i'm just talkin bubbles.
