4 Wheel Alignment

I recently took the wrx in for an alignment. I noted to the mechanic about my steering wheel not being exactly center when driving in a straight line. What he had found is that the rack and pinion has a little play in it which causes the steering wheel not to go back to center after a right turn or left. The mechanic also told me that he has seen this problem on many wrx's in the past and is not sure if this is the way Subaru intended it to be. Has anyone notice this while you are driving. It really have no problems with handling just the eye soar of my steering wheel cocked to the right or left very slightly after a turn. Any thought guys.

same here

I kind of noticed it too. I seems like something is loose. I recently had my alignment done after I bought new tires, and it was really straight for a while. Now it's back to normal and it tends to lean towards the right and sometimes the left.. I dunno. I have a 2001 2.5RS though. Not that I'm complaining, but it just seems a little funny.

It like that for me also but Im sure that my steering wheel was straight when I put it on. There was I thread that I read and it said that this was normal. I'll see if I can find it.

Hey aznsexrboy, When I had the car the steering wheel was toward the left like the aligment was off but it was liek that when I drove it off the lot and my STI the wheel is the exact same as the RS was so I think it is a Subaru thing..

Well atleast i'm not the only one. Like I said earlier the mechanic that did my alignment noticed some play in the rack and pinion roughly about a 1/4 in. I've done some searches and nothing has turned up yet. Maybe push2 will have better luck.
