2008 WRX STI vs 2008/09 BMW 135i Discussion
An E46 M3 runs 0-60 in 4.8 seconds and 1/4 mile in 13.1 seconds.
An E92 335i runs 0-60 in 5.1 seconds and 1/4 mile in 13.7 seconds.
And in the end, the M3's still a M while the 335i isn't.
Power isn't the only thing that makes the M name.
Handling, Weight Reduction, Braking, Styling...
also, the chassis is sooooo much better than the E46...in my opinion, the handling of the 335 surpassed the E46 (one of my ex-gfs had an E46, and i'd drive it every so often)...
not to dog your car, but the E92 is a much better platform, handling wise...
e46 non m3...i know the handling is better on the M3...same basic chassis though...i took a e46 M3 out for a test drive before (and your car out at test-n-tune- thanx!) but the new 3 series chassis is very well put together...
for me, i'd have to say the new 3 series out handles the former version...

I'd have to agree with you there about the E92 3 series outhandling a E46 3 series... but just not a E92 3 series outhandling a E46 M3.
I guess one of the biggest factors is because of the LSD vs. an open differential.
I'm very curious how well an E92 M3 will handle like since the weight difference between that and the E46 M3 is supposedly less than 100 lbs.

I like the new BMW and being in Kuwait I can get a discout on it. Once they put the price out, I will be able to get a quote. The salemsan I talked to said 2-5K off because I am deployed. That makes it tempting to me because Subaru, I do love them, does not support US military deployed with any discounts.
HJ, we agree to disagree
i believe the new 335 will "outhandle" a E46 M3...(and my ego likes to think that i'm qualified to make that comparison)...lsd comes into play only if the inside rear tire will lift off the ground...
*I* was very impressed with the new 335...
i know we all tend to "defend" the cars we own, so that may cloud judgement- not saying that you do in this case, but i certainly have been guilty of doing this in the past...also magazine journalists are just that: JOURNALISTS...we have no idea of how much "performance driving" thay know/do...magazine bench racing is fun, but i like to make decisions on what *I* know/like in an automobile...
dont get me wrong, i LOVE the E46 M3, but i think the new 3 series platform has much more to offer...and again, opinions are like *******s, they all stink if it's not mine...
