18x7.5 wheels, need local tires...

Ok so curious what size is recommended, I ordered just rims and will need to get tires here.

So anyone have good shop to recommend for tires?

I wont use em for auto-x or track so the tires dont have to be the stickiest, but decent. I am going to put Falkens on the stock rims for that.

Also looking at 225/40-18 as the sedans wont rub, is that right?

Tires

You would be better off ordering them from Tire Rack thats what I did and it was cheaper but that is just my $.02 maybe somebody knows of a place but that is what I found to be the cheapest. Get them mounted at Eurosport they won't scratch your wheels.

Ask for Jeff they might be a little high on price but they wont't scratch your wheels. But if Costco can do it and not scratch your wheels them go with them. But what do I know

there are a few local shops that can mount them, give Revolution Motorsports a call too, .... if they can mount tires on some bling bling 24" rims, .... I'm sure they can do your 18's.

Why are you going to buy Faken's for your autoX rims?? Why not get race rubber??

and yes, tire rack WILL have better prices, even with shipping, than any place on island. (unless you made a deal with the devil)

costco does a good job on mounting tires without scratching your rims.

depends on the type of tire

some are dot approved and some are not. either way, they will throw mad rocks at yours and other cars when you drive to the track. they also don't last like regular tires, so i would save them for the track although the black one with SSR's(sm 151?) and russ drive to the track on them, but you may have a longer drive. b

a lot of people drive to the track with race rubber on. The Kumo v700's are pretty cheap too!

what tires is George with the supercharged z3 running? Hoosiers I think? He drives out with his on, and them ain't cheap.

oh yeah

watch out when you do drive in the rain with race tires, my A032R's let me plow and hydro all over from barbers point back to town back a couple of years ago. but then, we have AWD now.

i got a wagon, so i got easy loading and unloading of tires. plus i get to scca early, sign up for a good work assignment and then change tires. b

Ah so you can change there? Of course I dont have room for all them wheels in the sedan. I will check into some and see, maybe some cheap race rubbers, but like you said I have to drive from North Shore, not fun or short...

If you are a Costco member, they can get S03's at a pretty decent price. When I had my 712's mounted at Costco lasyt December, the guy doing the mounting told me they could get them for around $180...but the wait was 2 weeks I think. Don't quote me on price or time frame...after all, it was 4 months ago...

I drive from the North Shore everyday...I would not recommend running race tires other than to race...not worth it economically...not to mention driving through Wahiawa where it always rains and dirties up my white car! grrr...
