09 WRX seats in 09 Forester XT...Fitment
FYI: 09 WRX Seats in an 09 Forester XT.
Just some heads up for those that are thinking about changing out their seats.
I recently purchased WRX seats to replace the slippery, un-supportive leather seats in the FXT.
Brackets fit fine, plugs fit fine...but the passenger sensor was not compatible between the two.
so...airbag light was on (rendering airbag system useless) and the passenger airbag was also malfunctioning.
Two choices:
1. Take apart both seats, take the passenger sensor out of FXT and put in the frame of the WRX.
2. if the seats frames are identical...put the bottom cushion and rear back of the WRX seats on the FXT base.
Son and I opted for the second method...fitment was perfect, everything is fixed and good. All bolts lined up and the side plastics all fit perfect.
Also...the WRX frame sits way lower than the FXT (~1.5"-2")...so using the FXT base raised the seat back up to normal height. You can leave the WRX base on the driver's side since there is an adjustment for height there.
BTW...its not very difficult to take apart our seats...
