08 STI Video

CAR Online has caught the new Impreza WRX STi almost completely undisguised. Our video has the car hot lapping at the Nurburgring before it's officially unveiled to the world on 10 October.

Due on sale in the UK in March 2008, the car will have a 2.5-litre turbocharged boxer engine with nearly 300bhp, plus four-wheel drive and a driver-controlled centre differential. If you can't wait that long, then watch our video of the new Subaru Impreza WRX STi at the Nurburgring.

But the Subaru will have some tough competiton, as Mitsubishi has just launched its Evo X and we've driven it

yeah, that bothered me. I dunno, I'm still not diggin it. Its going to have to have substantially better styling details than the wrx for me to be impressed (not that that matters)

im hoping the "4 wheel" drive was a mistake. the looks are slowly growing on me. still not enough to get me running to servco quite yet...

I am slowly getting to like the new body style. The fender bulges definitely makes it more aggressive. I am impressed in the lack of body roll in the video, especially if it is a stock STi. Can't wait to see one in person.

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/07/l...-sti-brochure/

NASIOC has long been a bonanza of leaked photos and info relatingng to all things Subaru, and today, user "fyinpig" keeps that tradition going with brochure shots of the JDM Subaru Impreza WRX STI ahead of the car's official debut later this month. As you can see, the muscled-up hatch will be available in 7 colors in Japan ("obshidian" black pearl,, anyone?), with three different wheel styles. Inside, there's no shortage of STI logos, so your passengers won't confuse your machine with the standard WRX. Key numbers you'll undoubtedly be interested in include:

304 hp @ 6400 rpm
311lb-ft @ 4400rpm (41:59 torque split)

Weight: 3263 lb (subtract an additional 22 lbs. if fitted with optional BBS wheels)

Man, I really like it. I don't know why it looks better than the wrx hatch, even though its basically the same body, right? Too bad I won't be able to afford one. I wish they had a stripped down model similar to what the evo has. Even the new X is supposed to start right around 30k...
