04 wrx lower spring suggestion

I'm currently using BC racing coiilovers ... Im getting tired with the bumpy ride but i dont want to sacrifice the stance. Anyone know a good spring set that will give me a nice drop w/ great ride comfort? Planning to use the stock wrx struts. (car is sitting on 18" wheels)

nothing on stock struts, you'll kill them fairly quickly and be even more bouncy than the BC's

I ran Eibach Sportlines and stock struts on my '04 for more than 2 years. daily driver and autocross car. No problems, no leaks, not bouncy.

Agreed.

stock struts are valved, adjusted etc for the OE spring rate and travel distance; if you want to go lower but maintain ride quality, you'll need/want adjustable dampers made to be ridden low (stroke is adjusted to work properly when lowered)

Choose one, because you can't have both. If you can't live with the rough ride, you shouldn't be lowering your car.

No spring available (at least that I've seen) will get you low enough. You can try Stance LX's. They're supposed to be the more "comfortable" coilovers in their line up with softer spring rates. Just a thought.

KW's ride nice if you setup the dampening right.

go to JCPennys. They have a buy one pillow and get the other for $1. Two pillows, one driver and one passenger, and sit on them. Thats how i rolled in my lowered suzuki aerio on eibach springs and stock dampers when I threw out a disc in my back. BAM more comfy ride

The keyword is travel. When you run a shorter spring you kill the travel so there dampener has less travel to work with.

Coilovers are SUPPOSED To offer more travel than strut spring combo when lowered, but most of the 1k coilovers are similar in terms of travel. There are coilovers that actually give more travel than stock shortened but you're not going to find less than 2k. BC ..etc.. are all pretty much equivalent in terms of travel. AST and KW provide more but the price increase is high, but the ride quality is better than stock in my opinion. I went with a moderate spring rate with KW and everyone has ridden in my car swears that it feels really comfortable.

For 500 or somewhat dollars though, you're not going to get good ride and low stance.

+1...herrafrush can't also equal herracomferble...well unless you somehow modified the suspension geometry so that you could still have enough shock travel.

I would get some aftermarket struts if I were you..

You won't run into too much problems with stock struts. But your car will handle better.

Even a set of Tokico's or KYB Agx would do the trick.

Bingo. Same situation. Stock struts w/ eibach springs. Had them for 2 1/2 years no problems at all.

sSmooth ride means a lot of suspension travel and a rebound speed rate a tiny bit slower than the last compression speed rate.

If you want to keep that^ while lowering your car:

You can look at fabricating and lifting your cars strut mounting point. Like the opposite of strut top (saggy butt) spacers.

To make sure you aren't going to run into clearance issues, remove the spring from the strut. Re-install the strut and wheel. Push up on the wheel and check your tire clearance. If you have over an inch all around (including above your axle), you can safely lift you strut mounting point an inch.

Hell someone may even make a part for this, where all you would have to do is set it in place, mark, cut, and weld.

Hood spacers would be needed after a little over an inch. Rear should be good for 2 inch drop if you dont need rear seatbelts.

Mookeeh makes really thin strut tops/camber plates. These would lower your car about an inch with stock struts.
