03 wrx with v8 ej207. bad maf?
Today I worked on fabricating the brackets to install my usdm Perrin fuel rails on my JDM spec-c manifold.
I also had to use 16mm phenolic intake manifold spacers so the JDM avcs solenoid plug would clear the fuel rails.

Looking good, I'm the same way, started to do timing belt change on 2.5RS/AVO Turbo motor, noticed a bit of oil leaking, ended up swapping in a EJ22T/Wiseco forged pistons short block, having the cams re-profiled, etc, etc, etc. LOL!
Learning a lot about subies in the process!

Thx. It's reassuring to hear we all get sucked into these types of unplanned repairs/upgrades. LoL
My work schedules been crazy busy, so I'm only getting like 6 hours a week in on the car. I hope to paint the manifold, and changed the valve cover gaskets on my next day off. Then I can start putting it back together.
I changed the valve cover gaskets today on both sides. The ej207 gaskets I bought off eBay fit perfect. I changed all the gaskets. The one around the edge, the ones around the sparkplug holes, and all new bolt rubber washer gaskets. I used permatex the "right stuff" black. Comes in a pressurized can. I filled the groove in the valve cover then pushed the new gasket into the grove, thus sticking it into the grove, and coating it on all sides with my gloved finger. Then I put a thin coat on the engine side, let it dry 20 minutes, and put it on carefully to not mess up the coating. I also sealed each bolt with a new bolt gasket, and put this same sealant on the inner and outer hole of rubber washer before installing.
Rest of motor still needs to be put back together, so I won't know if it leaks or not for awhile. LoL...
Looks good though.

I painted my manifold the other day. Motor is going back together now.
The paint I looked up that should have matched the stock STI red manifold color turned out to be more orange the red (VLH sp204). Oh well, orange it is then! The wrinkle finish looks nice though. I'm not building my car for show, so no one really ever sees under my hood. I just figured I'd paint it because I had it off. You know, routine maintenance. LoL.

I started it up yesterday. Finally got it all back together. Had to shut it off right away because it was leaking power steering fluid. I cross threaded the bolt that attaches the high pressure line to the pump. Errr....
Gonna see if I can find just that fitting....

Update. I fixed the leaking power steering pump fitting. I was able to get just that fitting at D&M hydraulics for $15.
The valve cover don't leak a drop! It so nice to have a clean motor that doesn't leak. LoL.
My bov still have a leak, so I need to change the o-rings out before I can leak test everything again. But, I'm pretty sure I got all the leaks.
The custom brackets I made for the perrin fuel rails work great. No fuel leaks.
Can't wait to get this bov fixed so I can start tuning with RR.
