cobb accessport question

gruppe-s,

Noob question to ask but, I did get a tune by mike and he loaded the map onto my ecu and I havnt touched the ecu since that day. well i brought the car to the dealer the other day and i think they hard reset it, like disconnecting the battery.

So I guess the question is, since they did reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery, is the tuned map that mike did still on the ecu? or do I have to load it back on there?

Thanks

Hey, sorry about that. I guess I was just too busy that I missed your question. But the answer is basically no, your map did not erase from your car because once you get a tune the map stays on the ECU until it is reflashed again. Disconnecting the battery only stops the electric flow but the information is still stored on your computer. I hope that answers your question, and again sorry for the delay.

Cheers,
Mark

to elaborate on what Mark said, BASE maps will not be erased but unhooking the battery. However, REALTIME maps will be. This means if you load the anti-theft map to the ecu as a realtime map and someone trying to steal it unhooks the battery to disable the alarm, your base map will be in use again. THAT being said, you dont want to flash your base map to anti-theft every night and reflash your regular map to base every morning because in about 50 days you wont be able to reflash the ecu anymore

That is very much so correct. Thanks for clarifying the situation and hopefully Gruppe-S finds a new customer service person to lighten my load.

Thanks,
Mark

I thought the ECU was capable of limitless re-flashes for realtime and base maps with the Cobb AP? I guess I learn something new everyday!

limitless real-time, limited base-map. I'm not sure how it loads the real-time on without using up a flash...but it does. Base maps also take a lot longer to load up because its reflashing the whole ecu.

It says in the instruction manual that the ECU always reverts back to the base map that was loaded with the Access Port. Base Map = Mike's custom tune. Your good.
