whirring noise on startup

whirring noise on startup
Ive noticed every once in awhile when I startup 09 n/a impreza that it makes a whirring noise when I engage the clutch and I noticed my hill start assist (stupidest invention ever) doesnt seem to work. Could the noise im having by any chance relate to that? Any feed back would be helpful thanks
