I'm trying to get my car's fluids changed (transmission and rear diff) and I wanted to do it right with the right fluids, so I started looking online. It started getting very confusing when some forums tell you to use a specific fluid because it's good other forums tell you you shouldn't use that cuz it's the worst thing you could use. I tried getting Subaru extra s fluid from the a local dealer but they only sell it in 5 gallon buckets which is way more than what I need. Can someone tell me what fluid I can get that will work with my 06 impreza sti other than Subaru extra s and hopefully is something I can get at a local auto parts store (auto zone, oreilly's, pep boys) or online. Thanks and i would appreciate if I get some answers and not 'it's already been discussed look it up'.

 

Try another dealership. I know up here they will sell it to you for $5 a quart you just have to bring in your own containers.

I have heard the suburu stuff is the best but I have also heard that redline will do the trick.
