exhaust question

I have a 09 2.5i na impreza that I'm trying to get a front chassis brace in but can't due to piping and a cannister looking thing... does anyone know whether after the headers on the bolt in mid pipe if the canister is a resonating chamber for sound or if it's an actual catalytic converter with no o2 sensor?

Doesn't look like a cat, take a farther away pic of the whole header setup.

So this is the best I could do since the cars lowered and I'm at work this is from the front of the car my headers are wrapped amd have the cat and o2 sensor attached to them and the second canister is just there with no sensors

Looks like a resonator to me, it would have more shielding on it if it was a cat. But I'm not 100%

It's a cat. Resonator is further down.

Half my sheilds were rattling.... can I delete it with just a straight pipe? Would it mess anything up? Or maybe relocate it?

You could remove it but smog will be an issue every two years, moving it down won't be a issue.

Hold would it affect my back pressure though if I ran just a 2.25 inch piping from the headers?

It would shift your powerband up. (Loose bottom, gain top.)
