Question Exaust Pipe size question

So about 2 months ago I put on an exaust, and instead of 2 1/5' pipeing he put 2 1/4'

My question is, when I go back to re-do the pipeing...should I get a 2 1/2' straight pipe or straight up 3 inches. People said if I get 3 inches I might have turbo lag. So I thought I'd ask people that would actually know like you my friends.

Thanks!

Fist off, are you going with turbo-back or just cat-back?
cat-backs really do nothing for turbo spool time (lag) or power.

turbo lag has very little to do with ur exhaust
turbo lag is just when ur engine is at low rpm it isnt pushing enough air through the turbo for it to be pushing air into ur intake.
the exhaust being larger if anything will cause less restriction on the turbo to spool faster
the difference between 2.5" and 3" pipe would be a loss in low end torque and a gain in top end hp.
but thats pretty much just for turbo-back exhaust.

imo cat-backs are just expensive noise makers
