Question about break light

Well 2009 forester. I have an intermittent problem with the idiot break light going on. I did an emergency stop. the Light came on , but didn't turn off. So, when I stopped at a light, I shifted it to park and then back to drive, Light went off. Later that week I was driving and noticed it was on again, tried the same thing, but this time It didn't go off. (note that the hand break is off) When I went over some bumps light has turned it self off. Any Ideas what has happened to my car?

your brake fluid is low. Bring the level to just above the max line. But it's low for a reason, so check out how your brake pads are in the front and rear.

Better late than never I suppose

Or the E Brake sensor is bad/loose and needs to be readjusted or replaced.

I'm pretty sure it's the brake fluid level. All the symptoms point to it. Stopping quickly makes the brake fluid shift in the tank and the float's reed switch makes contact and has the light come on on the dash. The fluid level is at the hairy edge of keeping the light on all the time.

If your brake fluid is low, it likely means your pads are just about worn out. DO NOT top the fluid off, check your brakes for wear first.
