Old school forester Q's
hello all i found what i thinks is a 88-93 forester XT turbo in a junk yard. I didn't have much time to pick at it since i was in rush for somthing else. i saw that it was turbo charged still with this little turbo. so my Q's are what size motor is in this car, does the motor have a fully closed deck, semi or open deck? the heads appeared to be SOHC, is it possible to apply a much newer gen. head to this motor? i have alot more Q's but i can't think of them
right now. to descibe the car more, it was very boxy sharp nosed, it even had a funky hood scoop like it was routed to cool the turbo. i'll go back also to get some pics if that will help some of you pros. well thanks alot all for any replies. Mario:banana:

That sounds just like the Subaru XT series. It could be the XT6, which is shaped more 'Dartlike', and has a really low cd.
The Forester's predecessor is called the DL-10. It's more of a wagon derivative, however. They offered the standard model and the 4wd model, both looked similar otherwise. Those were offered in the late 1970's however. Subaru, to my knowledge, did not build any "SUV" category vehciles from the '80 - '95, at which time they started building the Forester SF5 for export around the world (except North America).
Hope this helps.
