Hey guys, I'm going to be selling my 08 STi pretty soon if the market allows. I want to pick up a Forester XT 5MT for about $12k-$14k. I'm really looking for Aspen White, Crystal Gray Metallic, or that nice Burgundy Red (Sedona Red Pearl?).
I need some advice on what year to get since I'm an Impreza man so far.
I basically plan on doing an STi turbo, top mount, mbc, tbe, intake, tune with coilovers, rims, sways, STi interior, and jdm STi bumpers with an STi grille.

you can get a nice 04-05 xt for about 15k. I would but a small 20g in the car, and the mods that go with it. Plus it will look a lot better then the 08 you have now. Sorry I just hate what the sti looks like now.
But do that and you can have a sti killer that kicks ***!

I think certain years had a slight power change, just can't remember what year it was. The 07' and 08' had the sport bumpers that look like FSTI bumpers. Good luck.

Not trading, selling. I love my 08, I don't have to sell my 08, but it would be smarter since for the next 14 months I will be part time as I finish medic school
I'm doing the smarter thing even though I do not want to...
Here's what I'm going to try and make out of a Forester though:

My suggestion, head over to subaruforester.org and look around
I ended up going with swift springs (forester), KYB GR2 struts, STI hats, and the cobb swaybars F/R. Its the same height as the STI Forester, but I get a bit better ride, and it was cheaper in the long run to build.

As mentioned there is a lot of info over at www.subaruforester.org
The 04 & 05 Foresters have for the most part the exact same motor as the STi of that year. The major differences are the ECU, turbo exhaust manifold and up pipe. Lots of people have bolted those things on. I just put the front exhaust form an STi on my Forester last weekend. I still need to do a scoobymods page for that. Have a look here:

There are my mods and links to how I did them. For the suspension I went with a JDM Take off Forester STi suspension. I don't care too much for the slammed look on a Forester and the Forester STi setup only drops it about an inch.
Some good technical info here:

about the motor. Anyway good luck
