99 Forester OIL leak !!???
Spankin new to the Sub forums.I am a VW junky, but my wife ownes a Forester and she has been telling me it has been smelling and smoking,well...I did an oil change and noticed the lower front part of the motor has oil leaking from it.NOW I have done plenty of work on vw's and know then very well BUT subarus NO.I am going to buy a shop book on this car/truck tomorrow. What am I looking at for changing the timming belt and this seal or gasket that is causing the leak.Is it a pain in the butt??I looks simple.PLEASE....info would be great.

Dive in.
I looked up the booktime in All-Data (I work at a General repair shop) And they give 2.4hrs to do a front crankshaft seal. It includes removing the timing belt. I've done them here and, although i can't remember anything in particular about the job, I don't remember getting pissed either. I think i remember them being pretty simple. You can do it!
