Not sure what years his are lookin at, just tryin to get an idea of some minor upgrades for christmas and saw this. Any ideas?
Or should I just go with an amsoil air filter?
Forgot to mention, it's for a 99 2.2L

I did what Mudzilla did too, but I had the hose go down to the original 'brake duct' (02 UKDM or JDM) and had it cut at an angle, to deter water getting in there, also put a fine mesh grill to repel rocks/leaves and water.
Works very well for the good price of free .. haha

I have never heard of someone useing a dryer hose for an intake. Does it actually do anything for your engine? It sounds like a good idea. Is this a 2.2l that you are talking about? because ive been looking for a way to get a cold air on my 2.2l but haven't found anything.
I did it on a 2.2 99 l wagon. I took off all of those water traps, sound deadener boxes right up to the elbow on the air box. On the elbow there is a slip on plastic snap on piece that the 3 inch dryer hose hooks up to with a zip tie. on the right hand side there are 2 holes on the engine compartment, i ran mine through the first one. I pushed it down till it wouldnt go any more then poped off the fog light cover and pulled it through carfully and wedged it in line with the fog light cover hole. Your going to have to find a way to secure the hose because it rattles quiet a bit. Preformance wise i felt a slight increase in power.
if your looking for something cheap I bought one a couple of months ago for my 2.2 L 98 and decided just to put in a K&N filter in the existing intake instead of put on the cai, so if your interested in $30 or so let me know. i can send you the pics and specs.

I ended up actually purchasing a K&N Filter as well, and am very happy with the results. After doing research on forums here etc. I opted for that route, it seems our stock intakes are sufficient enough for the type of modding that I have yet to do to my vehicle.
