Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

Exclamation What Oil To Break-in Cams?

OK. I have three recommendations:

1) Delta = 30W Diesel ~ For Zinc and Phosphates (And dump @ 200 miles).

2) Cobb = Standard Oil ~ any weight ~ Synthetic "wears out valve trains/cams faster." (And dump @ 3,000 miles).

3) Subie Tech Here = Stay with your Royal Purple (And dump @ 2,000 miles).

Anyone else want to completely screw me up with another recommendation???

Since my cams are going in as I speak... I have about 6 hours to make up my mind!

what did you wind up doing? I'd just stay with what you had and change it after 500 or so miles.

Solved this one with about half dozen opinions from different tuners (Cobb, Rallitek, etc.).

The winner: REAL oil 10/40 for 500 to 1K miles. It's all buttoned up and pulls like a rhino ~ but I have no idles after running, when coming to a stop... this is the next issue on my plate!
