what can i do to improve off the line?
Short of loosing 75lbs what should/could I do to improve my off the line?
I have a 2000 2.5RS I gutted the airbox and put a light weight underdrive pully.
What sould I do?
Motor and tranny mounts?
light weight flywheel?
Headers and full exhaust?
What would make the greatest improvement?

i'd say...tires and lsd's. When I do 5k clutch drops, I was able to spin all four tires (cold Hoosiers). When they were hotter, I would spin the front tires before the center diff would catch it to send power to the rear.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I've read and was under the impression that lightened flywheels actually made you slower off the line...?
you are right.. below 3000 ot 3500 rpms.. you dont have alot of power..
thats the way a turbo works.. it must spool up first...
im not sure if and how much a new flywheel will help.. in order to keep the car reliable.. you might have to change other stuff in addition to the flywheel..
in any case.. you want to get a good start off the line.. try revving the car to 3000rpms and then dropping the clutch.. not great for the transmission.. but it can handle a bit of abuse. you can rev it higher.. but the goal is not to spin the wheels. since i just got my scooby, i dont know what the sweetspot is, but you can find it with practice.. how high to rev it before dropping the clutch.
also you might try adjusting the manual torque setting. since your engine is up front, there is more weight up front.. so if you give the front some more torque.. it might stick better and you can drop the clutch at a little bit of a higher rpm and have the wheels stick.
this is based on my experience with other vehicles.. so take it with a grain of salt.. or try it and see how your mileage varies.

yeah i have played around with all diffrent rpm drops so far the only one that provides a crisp off the line jump with no bog is 6,000 and that is way too high for my liking. Right now i just need eather more off the line power or less rotating mass. I guess i just crave the lower end grunt that seems to be missing.

But yes, mine is faster off the line for sure. Loosing drivetrain weight means you spend less time in the sub-2000 rpm range, which makes you definitivly quicker going through the lower gears.
Other than a RA geared 4.444 tranny or a STI/FXT engine swap, I dont think you can get much faster off the line.... Headers/exhaust, intake, etc. dont really help that much with the low end.

Please forgive my ignorance, but are you supposed to drop-clutch-launch with these cars? I own a WRX and I know that by slipping the clutch the WRX's are able to get better starts, and I thought this was true to all AWD Subarus..?? Or are the 2.5 RS's different?

i was also under the impression that since our cars are AWD, if you clutch dropped at a high RPM, it would shock the **** out of the drivetrain

I personaly would like to stray away from having to do that in order to have a decent launch.
