Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

Top Speed

Anyone know what the Top Speed is on the '07 2.5i?
If so, what limits it?
and, can it be increased?

Well the 1st step would be to increase the computer cut off by reprogramming your ecu. While your at it you can change your fuel to air ratio to be more performance orientated then gas economical. Then you can figure out your top speed .

Thanks for the input. Yeah, I'm definitely interested in this, because it's so easy to find Performance Specs for the WRX, and STI, but as far as the 2.5i goes, it remains a mystery in a lot of aspects.

As far as I've been able to discern, the WRX's top speed is 145, and the STI is 155. With those figures, I'd put the 2.5i at 135 (maybe a bit hopeful).

Wish I could bring the ride out to Nevada and top it out without a major risk of killin anyone.

ive had the needle barried at 120. no 4th gear crappin out on me man. I had that thing screamin on I-95 one day going to work...i was late as mo fo. I've noticed if you steadily push the peddal down VS slammin it down, it seems to get up faster when your at the high speeds.

My 05 could do 138 with the gearing (SCC had a great articale on calculating your max possible speed the drivetrain would allow about a year ago), but when it came to laying it down in the road my max was 126. Now the I's have a bit more power and 100 more RP so I'd guess low 130's

This fella named pluik on CarDomain claims that this photo offers proof that he's hit 140. All he has in terms of performance upgrades is a custom air intake. Here's his page:

thats a crazy pic but to go by his method about the space after 120, then i would say it looks more like 130 but i wonder what we would hit if we reprogram the ecu

apparently, the rev limiter will not allow you to go past any further in terms of RPM.
Another buddy from nasioc, couldn't pass the 180km/h mark, due to the rev limiter cutting off the throttle.
even if we could, why would we go that fast? :P

Based of the space and the Rev's thats not one 140, if i wasn't at work and so lazy we could use the tac to find out how fast he was going.
