I'm thinking about putting a wrx engine in my 98 rs. Is there a shop around the Massachusetts area that does this? For a less than $6000?

$6000 is not a bad price as long as you are getting a healthy US market engine, not a JDM one. Try asking in the regional forum if there is a shop locally.
