Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

STI Pitch Stopper - on a '99 2.2?

Howdy,

I installed Legacy motor mounts in my '99 L wagon (2.2L) last weekend, and really like the improved feel through the whole car. Now I am wondering if the STI Pitch Stopper will swap in to replace the stock part. The pitch stopper is specified by STI as an '02-up part from what I have been able to find. Does anyone know if the part's dimensions are the same as the '01-and lower?

Cheers,
chrx

11/13/03 - Update
I did a little more research, and... Yesterday, I found this link on Scoobymods if anyone else thinks about performing this particular upgrade:
http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/sho...=&threadid=168

Here kastle uses a Pitch Link from a '95 Impreza L, which looks a lot like the STI part in his illustrations. He mentions that he bought this part from Teague's, http://home.att.net/~teaguesauto/index.htm so I called them and they informed me that the STI part does in fact fit the '01 and earlier cars.

Yowsa-

Oh well, I can always chrome it, and drag it from the back of the car on a fat chain!

it can make a good slap jack if you just ride around with it in the glove box

Actually it was me that did the mod, kastle just posted it for me I didn't notice any huge difference. I later sold the pitch link (took it off before I sold my RS) to someone that I let try it first. He thought it made a slight noticable difference.

PS: Dale Teague is where I got the link.

As I initially mentioned, I got mine from Teagues too.

I am just playing around with chaining the motor down to see what big differences it makes. Thus the Legacy motor mounts that I already put in, and the Pitch Link, and STI tranny mount that should get here this week - anything that can be done on ramps in the garage.

I will probably drop a 2.5 in it when I get the suspension and other drivetrain mounts shaken-down. Here's the patient...

tranny mount combined with the engine mounts makes things so solid about as much lash a stock 2 wheel drive has
