random tech cat or straight pipe????

random tech cat or straight pipe????
i was wondering if the random tech cat is really worth the kind of $$$ it goes for, or will be just as good if i get a straight pipe, i dont know what to do , so i figured id check here first.

random tech. straight pipe will be smelly, you have to change it at inspection time, it is hard to make on a subaru, and it could whistle depending on how it matches up to the other pipes.
