So my G/F has a '98 2.5RS, 2 door of course. I have a couple questions, first off, I'm just not 100% sure and can't get an answer anywhere. Did they make a 4 door 2.5RS those years of that style? I can find intakes and exhaust and what not, and I'm sure the intakes would do fine, but I want to make sure I get an exhuast that will fit. Anybody know of any good cat-back systems for her car in the $450-$600 range?

Second is, does anyone know of an intake system that will make her hood-scoop semi-functional. Something that may put a filter that looks kinda like an intercooler right there? It just bothers the hell out of me when I see non-functional hood scoops. At least then there would be something cool to see through there.

And lastly, does anyone know of a website where they make a pre-cut tint kit for the two door. tintkits.com is usually my favorite, but they don't seem to have one available for 2 door Imprezas.

Depends on how loud you want it.

I haven't heard of or seen one and I doubt they make one, it would block cool air from getting in the engine bay and it would heat the intake filter and piping.

Not very loud on the exhaust, just looking to broaden the torque curve with an intake/exhaust combo. Don't even really need to get tons of power out of it. 5-10 horses to the flywheel would be enough between the two. Now that I think about it, it makes sense what you're saying about keeping cool air out, I'm just too used to my WRX and have this crazy illusion that all hood scoops should be functional.

For the most part anything that has a canister muffler will be considerably louder than stock.

There are a few exhausts out there for the price range that you are looking for. I personally have a 99 OBS with the made for Subaru Bosal exhaust. The exhaust is not too loud and added some pep to my 2.2 liter. I got the exhaust from this website:

or you can try Cobbtunning -they have alot of great stuff for the GC8's.

As far as making the hoodscoop functional -back in the days (pre-2002 MY's), there was a kit to make it possible. I can't remember exactly who was selling it or if he is still selling it, but try doing a search on google. NASIOC always has some good techies:

As far as the tinting is concerned, I just took mine to a tinting shop and had them do it for about $150. I have had the OBS since it was brand spanking new and the tint is still holding up.
