96 2.2L vavle ticking???
You guys know how out cars will tick a bit if they are low on oil??? Well, mine does and lately it has been ticking so I thought, oh, I'll give it some oil, well it's full and it's still ticking, my dad (subaru mechanic for about 10 years) said it probably just needs a valve adjustment. I called the service manager at my local dealer (good friend of mine) and he said the 2.2 has hydralic lifters, so they can't be adjusted??? Does that mean it's just gonna have to be replace or should I just drive her into the ground as an excuse to buy me a 05 Legacy GT. BTW, she's got 208,xxx miles on her.
Thanks,
Cody

The service manager is wrong. The 2.2 liter engines do not have hydraulic valve lifters, therefore, you do need to have them adjusted. The maintenance intervals even include adjusting the valves. Take it to another dealership and have them look at it.

Ahhh... I question the talent of TWO 'Subaru' mechanics who can't figure it out ~ maybe they would rather you have the '05 Legacy GT??? Head to a dealership and get the valves adjusted!
