this may be a stupid question but.
are wrx or sti parts a direct fit on the 2.5i's?
im asking because I'm purchasing the 2.5 in a couple months from now.
meaning cosmetic or performance parts, hood, wing, rims, brakes, intake, drivetrain, interior accessories, etc etc..
thanks.

From my understanding, most auto parts within the Impreza line are interchangeable with eachother.
This will definitely be true if you stay within the '06-'07 model range of Imprezas.
They all share the same body, and frame.
Drivetrain wise, the STI is built up more so than the WRX or 2.5i, but I believe all parts have the ability to be swapped.
To the specifics of your question:
Interchangeable Hood: Yes
Interchangeable Wing: Yes
Interchangeable Rims: Yes
Interchangeable Brakes: Yes
Interchangeable Intake: Only between WRX and STI
Interchangeable Drivetrain: 2.5i and WRX very close to eachother. STI Yes though.
Remember there is a difference between the LSD (Limited Slip Differential) set-ups of these models. These drivetrains can be swapped though.
Interior Accessories: Most parts should be interchangeable. Gauge wise though, remember that the WRX and STI have the Tachometer Centered in the Gauge Cluster, while the 2.5i has the Speedometer Centered.
Even the buttons for the DCCD and Intercooler Water Sprayer (STI) are in the other models, but simply as non functioning fill in buttons. So I would see no reason why most other accessories are not interchangeable.
Good luck with your prospects of owning a 2.5i.
If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

ahh thank you man, that info does help a lot, so im guessing the intake on the 2.5 is different from the wrx/sti's because of the engine as well as the intercooler up by the scoop or something?
what about things such as like lip kits, im assuming the stuff being sold for the wrx/sti's like lip kits would fit the 2.5i as well?
and last question, what is an exhaust that sounds good on a subaru, i know this is very BROAD question, it's all about taste and preference I know, but in everyone's opinion, i want a sound that isn't ricey (i hate that crap), and is either a very low, deep tone, orsomething like that rumble that I hear sometimes on wrx's that blow by me..
Any more info and suggestions is greatly appreciated!!
Thanks guys, I can't wait to get my 2.5i
Hey no problem man. I'm glad I can help you out. We have to all start out asking a lotta questions, otherwise we never get to understand the answers.
Yea, that's correct. The intake is different on the 2.5i from the WRX/STI simply because of the engine/intercooler set-up (plus the Turbo).
I don't see any reason why lip kits/body kits being sold for the WRX/STI wouldn't fit the 2.5i
Just to let you know, you can swap engines as well. Swapping an STI engine into a 2.5i in particular is a way to make fairly reliable power gains from the stock 2.5i. If you do this though, you might need to also swap some drivetrain parts to handle the extra power, and you might need to also have the STI's ECU (Engine Control Unit) swapped in, but it is definitely something that can be done.
You can even put a turbo onto the 2.5i, and with just a simple computer tune, you can achieve more power than the WRX. This is all possible without modifying anything else on the 2.5i. For the most part I'd say you can achieve around 240 or so HP at the crank, without beefing up the engine block, clutch, or drivetrain.
Hope this gives you an idea of what you can accomplish with the 2.5i. It's a great value, and it really allows you an extreme amount of room in modifying it due to the vast aftermarket available for the Imprezas.
As for an exhaust, there's debate on that, because it's all about taste. Hopefully someone else with more exhaust experience will chime in on that. I'll do some looking around though and see if I can't find one that fits your description.

i would've used the "search" feature but i was in school and the thoughts just sort of popped in my head. on the solaraguy.org forum, you get flamed bad if you don't use the search feature.
sweet. I really can't wait for my 2.5i, i really would get the wrx or sti if i had the money but im just a starving college student. really can't wait!
any more info regarding the 2.5i and modding it please let me know, your information is very valuable. thanks!

from what i heard, you can only boost at STOCK 2.5i to 6psi, other wise you'll start blowing engine

but the 2.5i's are 10:1 comp, so it'll make more power with a turbo & less boost then a wrx with 8:1 comp & 15psi :P
now if you want to make boost beyond the 6psi range, invest into the internals!
Vizzionz- Yea that's pretty much my understanding as well in regards to 6 psi. I used a rough caclulator that they have available for boost, and what it might equal in HP gains. It said 240 or so BHP (Brake Horsepower), (Not WHP (Wheel Horsepower) should be attainable with that much PSI.
Most agree that the 2.5i should be able to produce (without internal mods) HP within the range of the WRX. Lol, yeah I wasn't even thinking about that. Less PSI, and more power due to the compression ratio. If the 6 PSI really can get the 2.5i to 240 HP, then that sure does prove your point in quite an extreme way.
I'm still not sure if I want to swap, or simply build the 2.5i NA (Naturally Aspirated) engine. If I build it though, I'm definitely going to boost. I'm not sure what I'll be able to attain in the end, but if 6 PSI with no internal mods can get me within the 230-240 range or so, that is one heck of a start.
nooby_subie- I'm not sure exactly how strong the stock internals are, but if you plan on taking the 2.5i above the range of the WRX, then general opinion is that you will need to start upgrading them. An upgrade would consist of such things as Forged Pistons, stronger camshaft, etc.

They sell quite a bit in regards to Impreza upgrades, especially for the 2.5i model.

thanks guys, I really appreciate it. i've been learning quite a bit about the subie's for the past few days. Looks like im crossing over from the dark side. I really can't wait to get my subie, even if I have to wait a year.. all I do now almost 24/7 when I'm not working is thinking about the 2.5i, even when I drive my solara, I seriously wish it was that car instead lol...
man have I been missing out or what. once the snow clears up I have to go back to the subaru dealership and test drive it. see how that goes..

hey y'all, just bought a new 07' 2.5i and want to tune a bit. i've read through several threads and there's some pretty useful stuff on here. thanks! i want to add a cai and to my understanding the cai's for the wrx will fit. can anyone verify that? and what brand has the best performance and is most reliable? any feedback greatly appreciated!!!
will a WRX cat back fit the 2.5i? i was reading that a RS cat backs require you to rotate the flange but the 2.5i and WRX now use the same flange...i just wanna make sure this is true before i buy one lol
