Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

Ive never used platinum plugs but have never heard of anything negative either. Why do you ask?

I bought a set for my bro and I don't want to be responsible for breaking his car. I just heard it from some guy who worked a subaru.

My local Subaru dealer told me that the platniums are not good for the Suby's. I had Bosch +4 platniums as well and ran them for nearly 15k with no problems, but he said the cars seem to run much nicer on NGK's, I'd opt for the NGK or Denso iridium's.

I just replaced my plugs this weekend with NGK's. Only difference was a smoother idle and my old NGK's were still in good shape with only 12,000 miles on them.

I don't see how platinum plugs can damage pistons? What was the guy's excuse, hotter spark? Unless the Piston hits the plug or there is some other mechanical damage, I don't see this as an issue.

I was never told that they would damage pistons, just that they were "not good for these suby motors." I don't know, he works on them more that I ever have so I guess I won't take my chances.

You will find that the consensus is to use the regular copper NGK plugs, which I think you have already heard.
