oil consumption
oil consumption
Hi, first poster here. I searched the problem here on the boards (great resource by the way) of oil consumption in my 06 2.5i and only found that it's normal etc. I am curious as to why it is normal. Is it the horizontal layout of the motor and more oil than usual is getting into the combustion chambers? Does anybody have a real explanation? Most cars i've owned (including a 1988 subie Dl wagon) consumed very little oil between changes. I see using Mobil synthetic lessens this but i currently run dino juice and have no experience with synthetic oils. I also have a question on mileage: i usually get around or just under 300 miles/tank in city driving. what is everybody else getting? thanks for any and all insight and i am otherwise happy with the car.
I found a very small leak around the drain plug when i losing oil, and since we can go so far between changes I accounted this for my problem, but I don't know if it was the real reason or not.
