I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get a new or used ecu? I am looking into doing a tranny swap for my 01 2.5rs which is an automatic into a manual shift. I talked to the guys at vakamon already and they said they can do it, but I would need to get a new ecu for a manual in my model or get the tranny codes for my ecu to make the appropriate changes to my stock ecu. I never had to do anything like this before, so I am kinda lost here. If anyone has any suggestions, pls lmk, thanx

 

I know on some years the ECU was programed for both, you just had to do a some weird combo to cause the ECU to switch over, you might research that some and see if it might apply to you. I'd search under swapping maps since i think i first saw something when i was looking around for that kinda stuff

 

Swapping maps? Okay, I'll try that. The guy I talked to at the shop said I might need tranny codes from subaru, but I really don't think they'd just hand over that kind of info if I asked. thanx for the suggestion, I'll lyk how goes the search.

 

from what I was told (I'm doing the same thing youre doing) there IS a difference in the ECUs and an auto one will not work with the maunal tranny. That being said, let me know when you find one and how much you got it for....I need one for an 02 wrx

oh, and I didn't just ask one shop and go with what they said. I sent out PM's to all of the California shops asking for the info and went with what was most common
