New 2002 RS Too Good To Be True?
I came across a 'new' 2002 RS on a dealer's lot the other day. I'm wondering if it's too good to be true. They're asking $18,500 not including tax, title, license. I'm sure they're flexible, though.
First of all, I would really appreciate it if you guys could fill me in on the typical problems that the 2002 RS has been having.
Also, what questions would you ask the dealer(Besides 'Why do you still have a 2002 on your lot?').
Last thing - what would you look for on the car itself?
This would be my first real car purchase, so I'd appreciate your help.

actually that is not too bad of a deal at all.i work at a subaru dealership and got an 03rs for 18,700--invoice w/extras. u could probably talk them down some since it is a year old.not any problems. if its a 5speed then you'll get the clutch shudder and get a new style clutch setup, thats about it.great car though.thats why i bought one.

Its not a good deal at all, its over book price. I would personally buy a fair priced used Impreza rather than a newer one and put the difference in mods.. The factory stereo upgrade is marginal, and don't get an auto, my 5spd is slow enough.. And why in the hell would you want to make your Impreza FWD? You'd lose your AWD holeshot, which is the only thing that wins races for RS's..

So, they sold it today to someone else. I have a few dealers looking for used '02s, but there's no guarantees there. They don't exactly sell a whole lot of RSs around here in the first place. Finding someone who wants to sell theirs after only 1.5 years might be tough. I guess I'll continue to look for new '03s or '04s and see what the best deal in town is.

i was looking at a '01 BRP RS before i bought my '03.
i just decided to spend the extra few grand and get a brand new car with a full warranty. plus i like the look of the '02+'s alot better. it's basically the same car with a newer look, and about an extra 100 lbs.
