Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

new 2.5 engine.

i have a bad feeling about something, and i think that i may need a crate engine from subaru, how much do they run? how can i get one, how hard would it be to put in, i f it is just a direct swap.
if you have done this what is there to look out for, tricks of the trade i mean, goofy **** know would know only if you put one in.

By crate engine do you mean long block, short block, or true crate engine? If you have an EJ25, you can get a whole used motor for about $100 usually. STi crate motors were going for $6500 without turbo, intercooler, or ECU on subaruwrxparts.com. EJ257 short blocks are $1450 I think, price recently went up and I can't remember exactly how much.

If your going through all the trouble of swapping the engine, dont put another ej25 in !!! May be a bit more$$$, but it's a no brainer IMO.

I'd normally agree, but if you could get another ej25 for 100, unless you really want the more power and coolness, etc of the turbos, it would be waaaaay cheaper and easier to get a used 25. And installation should be a breaze since you wouldn't have to rewire it. That being said, were it me, I'd get the EJ25T from the new STi if I could afford it, since you have a good excuse to be upgrading it anyways
