the perrin is a good choice. a lot of people have problems with "underdriven" pulleys. the perrin is not underdriven. its fairly easy to take off. get a huge breaker bar (3 feet long) have a couple people hold the bar in place. turn over the engine a few times and it should just unscrew itself.

Eather your ***** are bigger or your brain is smaller than mine!!! I cant decide witch.
I just got done putting on a "bomz racing" underdrive pully (ebay buy). it is 4.37 inches in diameter and weighs 1lb the stock one is 5.25 inches and 5.7lbs. You need new belts but touse are easy orders from your local store. I am lucky because I have a manual. i put the car in 5th gear and set the e-break and used a huge breaker bar and got it loose from there.
If you have an auto car The only way i can think of locking the crank (other than the way discribed above) is popping oppen the dust cover on the trans and getting a pry bar between the flex plate and torq-converter.
I have had great results with my pully. My 2.5 rs never used to overstear on clean dry pavement, but now (I guess its the extra 5hp) on tight curves at accessive speed the back end starts stepping around........ I LOVE IT!!
I am a little worried that the stock pully is ballanced.. Im just affrade that the stock one is ment to act like a harmonic ballancer.
Ah well , only go around once eh?
my suggestion for the turning over the car and letting it unscrew itself method is rest the bar agenst a chunk of wood placed on the inner fender so that you dont accidently injur your friends and dont bend your fender.
good luck
Install is very simple.
Driving will not be as smooth. The OEM pulley is heavier for a reason. It's weight's momentum is what makes it smoother when shifting. Kind of like a lighter flywheel vs. a heavier one.

omg, i got my pulley and belts yesterday. my install plan was the breaker bar idea with starting the car. so i stood holding a giant (3 foot long) torque wrench while my buddy started my car. i have an auto by the way. so it started and even with me weighing about 190 and bracing myself i got thrown about a foot back. but it worked. after putting on the Bomz pulley i had an issue with tightening it. i think i got it to about 90lbs/ft which is just short of the 96 that it recommends. well once everything was back in place (minus my a/c belt because theres a leak in those lines) i went out for a test drive. felt just the same as for balance and i noticed some power gain off the line. freeway (60mph up to 80mph) felt about the same but i havent timed anything yet.
thanx for the help guys. i deffinately would not have gotten that project done without it.
