Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

How do our 2.5s do against 1.8Ts?

I've got a turbo H22 prelude too and it owns my stock STi from a roll. At a light though and anything under 50 the STi will rape it without any lube at all. And don't even think about it on a winding road. You'll crash and die and I'll be to far ahead to watch. When I saw 1.8T I thought you meant a Jetta and I got my flamethrower ready.

Me too. I got bored with my '03 WRX but don't think I want to ever get rid of this '01 coupe. I would rock an STi drivetrain...

My friends 99 Audi A4 1.8T will beat my 01 RS pretty much any day of the week. I get him off the line for about a half car length and then its all over.

If it's an Audi TT with quattro than not really. Those things have 225HP and pretty much equal the torque once they spin up. And it's a flat flat torque band. But if you lose to a 1.8t Audi with FWD and only the 180 HP version or the 99 which I thought was only 150HP than you got problems. Those things prolly weigh more than an RS and are tiny. My RS is way faster than the 2002 GTI 1.8T I had prior. Definately more reliable... Christ that thing was a POS.

cheers

Well his car is making a lot of boost (at least 15) so maybe he has had some computer work to his car, but I know its faster than my RS which is completely stock.

Ive had a run with a friends 01 1.8T A4 and were pretty evenly matched in a drag from say one light to another , but not high end (only thing ive got is a Injen CAI so far). I can beat him off the line since launching the RS with AWD helps a lot, but i always loose speed when shifting since the RS has such a notchy shifter and doesnt respond well to abuse

Ain't that the truth. Even with a short throw, the Impreza gears are slow to change.

Honestly I own a 01RS and my mother owns a 01 Beetle 1.8t. Driven the Beetle many times, mainly to the dealership for service. May be a little girly looking, but damn that thing is nice to drive. A bit of a slug until they boost up, then they have quite a nice pull for a 1.8l engine.

I feel that the RS and 1.8t pull about the same, but only when the 1.8 is boosting. In a 1/4 miles I bet the 1.8t would win. 0 to 60 pretty close with an average driver. Upto 130, definitely the 1.8t

This is all relative to a Beetle 1.8t. (and the one with only 150 HP, not the updates 180 HP) If it were an Audi A4, then I would think the RS has an advantage due to weight. Audi TT, no chance for the RS.

My previous ride was a 2003 Nissan SER Spec-V, 2.5 N/A, I would roll 1.8t from 0-60 all day, but, at around 75+, the turbo just sucks in the air and they will start to pull

well i have an 06 2.5i and i can say ive beat everything honda or at least come pretty close. SI's get dominated...dont even try...integras that arent gsrs get owned. i still beat the gsr under 100 mph...not sure about on the highway. the only thing thats beat me is my friends 2001 prelude...i beat him everytime from 0-60 but once his second gear hits vtech its over...on the highway my thrid pulls on him but once were halfway through 4th hes gone cause his highend is better. my other friend has a 93 eg hatch with an ls motor in it(b18) and i dominated that everywhere. once he got full exhaust, intake, headers, and tuned he beats me by 3 bumpers on the highway now...doesnt even try racin me on from a light cause he knows hell get beat...so as far as hondas go unless u have a newer styled prelude or a tuned engine swapped hatch, yur pretty much gonna lose or at least tie....and whoever said vtech is a turbo is sorely mistaken.......thats not true at all

Burton, I'm sorry man but I gotta call BS about beatin a 93 hatch with a b18 in it stock. 2.5i's only do 16sec in the 1/4. Your tellin me a 93 hatch (weighs next to nothing) with a b18 isn't faster then 16sec? If anything it can be your friend is a horrible driver. Once he hits third he should be well on his way of passing you. Now with his upgrades he should be beating you by a greater distance. Unless that thing is a p.o.s.
