Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

How do our 2.5s do against 1.8Ts?

Question How do our 2.5s do against 1.8Ts?

I'm no racer but just curious about how the 2.5s do agains Integras or the other smaller engine turbos.

I know the WRXs will smoke us but what about a V-Tec integra or something along those lines.

Ive done a fiew things to my car and a turbo Laser walked me like it was no thing! we ran from stop to 50 he was ahead by 3 lengths ...
then from 60 to 85 on the freeway and he was doing an even pull on me the entire time.
a bit of work being;
borla header
stromung catless midpipe
wrx exhaust with ricer muffler
portmatched heads
polished and blended TB
underdrive pully
+4 plugs (whoopee doo!)
air intake

sorry to tell ya but i dont think that extra 1/2 liter is gonna make up for a turbo.

v-tech however migh tbe a little diffrent. i bet a modded rs would beat a v-tech car up to 50. it would be close, but the AWD would greatly offset the first gear v-tech.

well i beat my buddys integra gsr (dohc vtec 1.8l b18c1 170 hp stock i think) to about 90, hes got i/e
beat up on rsx's (not type s)
99-00 si's don't stand a chance either
with so many swaped hondas its a tough call...anything with a b18c1 or better will be about even or faster
my buddys 95 delso vtec (b16a2) with a greddy turbo kit is faster but notby much to about 60-70 after that hes gone...

i used to own a dsm...don't even wast your time...their looking for ls1's hehe

99 rs
borla headers
random tech cat
cobb tunning catback
ganzflow intake
l/w pullys
that chip...forgot name but yeah a chip

thats about it for power

1.8t stands for 1.8l turbo, the 2001 and later had only 150 hp cause the tiny k03 turbo, the 2002+ had 180 casue it had a ko4 compressor. they kinda suck stock...no top end but tons of low down tq...though they might be faster than my car. the advantage is they can chip it and gain 60 hp for only 500 bucks. but there heavy and handle like ****.

Well... The GTI's/Golf/Jetta and the 2WD Audi TT cam with 180HP and a K03 turbo almost every year. My 02 GTI had a K03. Those things are soooooo tiny. But they spool like a ****. And they don't chip all that great. A chip will get you like less than 50 HP but you'll make mad torque. to get 60 more HP you need to like do a lot of dyno tuning or just get a K04 turbo and full exhaust. It's a good block too bad VW/Audi or Bosch did the electronics. It could have been a cool car. But they did and the car blows. They are VERY heavy. All steel tho. You can go head up with a laidlaw bus and walk away fine.

cheers

yeah, but you had the ko4 compressor on it, the older ones 2001-under had ko3 compressor with a ko3 turbine. early mk4s had the gay 2l. either way i'd rather be driving my rs

Yeah the RS is much more fun than any VW I've owned. A little rough around the comfort edges but best performance bang for the buck.

When you say the MKIV's had the "gay 2l" you mean NA right. I don't remember a 2.0 turbo. At least not untill the current model.

cheers

if your talking to me yeah i own a gc8 2 door. i wouldn't buy a 02+ rs or wrx personally i find the wrx extremely boring my rs is way more fun to drive than a stock wrx and looks better too. i'd rock a sti though
