Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

DDImpreza,

Isn't six weeks kinda long for a paint job? Also; do you think they beat it up, took some parts, or simply painted over some needed components? You should really take it to a mechanic for a more thorough diagnosis.

It's not a turbo. But intakes shouldn't cause limp-home mode. Hopefully you are still underwarranty so you can get it fixed without paying.

When the ECU thinks there's something wrong, it switches to a mode where revs won't go over 3,500 and if you have an automatice it won't shift often (if at all). It's designed to get you somewhere so that it can be fixed without causing anymore damage on the way. All cars have this now probably.

I wasn't paying enough attention before... take of the AFC. It is easy to really screw up your ECU with those. Besides they don't really work- every time you lean it out, the ECU figured it out and re-enrichens it. So you need to take it out, reset your ECU again, then go to the dealer for 2 things- pull the code, then run your VIN to check if you had the MAF recall done. If not, they owe you one, and if so, and it's been less than 12 months, it'll be under warranty. If you have less than 60,000 miles and it's bad it's also still under warranty.
