Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

exhaust question once again

I was thinking about getting an intermediate pipe for my exhaust setup and was wondering if that would help bring the "boxer rumble" out alil more?

current setup= stromung XA axleback 2.25", coned filter

i want to keep the same pipe diameter but wanted to know how to achieve max rumble and keep it smog safe. hahahaha if taht is even possble.

lemme know

borla headers give a good ruble sound. i think they are only like 250-300. a good muffler could work too. not one you buy in like an advanced auto (ractive) or some cheepo muffler

without borla or some other kind of UNEQUAL length header you wont get the total boxer sound at all, no matter what you do.

i'm actually looking for that rumble sound as well. I just got a helix up pipe and still can't hear the gurgle of the boxer engine. So having the borla headers does increase the sound. Sounds like i might pick those up myself.

Will the borlas be smog legal or will i eventually have to revert to stock once smog testing comes around?? california sucks tailpipe when it comes to these things.

By your handle, i'm assuming you have a WRX. If so, the borla is not the answer for you, those apply only for the RS engine, i'm not sure about the 06 though(2.5i).

You've failed to mention anything about your exhaust, is it still stock? Your replacement of the stock uppipe is a good start for freeing up restriction but if that's it then
do the TBE first before you mess with the manifold(header).

i know this might be weird but my friend told me about putting in flowmasters. i'm like wtf, isn't it for muscle cars, suv's, n' trucks. good thinking though because it does make a deep sound n' all. idk. Can this rumble sound be achieved even though i have a 2.5i?

Geez- I guess I need to go turbo too, apparently having turbo makes you know everything there is to know...

...I know that's not what you meant, but that's how it sounds...
If you don't have patience, just don't reply. Easy enough, eh?
