Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

Correct engine temprature?

Hey guys, it's 20 degrees ouside and my engine temp gauge needle is half way between the H and C (or right in the middle). I changed the coolant and oil a week ago. Is this normal operating temp? I thought the needle should be at the quater mark? not close to half.

That seems a little hot. My 02 wrx temp sits just above the 1/4 mark. When you changed coolant, did you start the car after pouring the fluid in so it got the air bubbles out? Also with the car started you should of squeezed the upper hose enough times to assist with the air coming out. Just curious. I had the same problem when I flushed my coolant about a year ago. It would go up and down from half to 3/4, then I opened up the cap and sure enough, minimal fluid in the reservoir.

The garage changed the coolant, but it was at half mark before the coolant change. Shouldn't be at halfway mark when it is 20 Degrees outside temp. My next move will be to check thermostat and exhaust. Motor sounds good but would hate to assume the worst. Thanx
