Hey i was jus wonderin how can i diagnose my car when the check engine light comes on. it jus happened monday night. there was no more water in my radiator reservoir and the radiator. i usually keep it topped off but for some reason it was out. im thinkin it could be the water pump but im not sure if thats the case. there doesnt seem to be any hose leaks or breaks. i was waiting at a drive thru n then it jus came on. first time. another thing i checked was my oil was pretty low. i had gotten the gaskets replaced last year so i dont think its leakin oil plus i dont smell any oil burnin. any help would be very grateful. i kno alot of u guys prolly ran into the same thing. oh and the most important part is i have a 99 subaru impreza 2.5rs coupe. close to 120k miles now. oil change every 3k miles along with filter. thanks for lookin and responding

 

im gonna go ahead and say you have a head gasket issue, and the CEL is most likely a misfire that the computer detected. 2.5 DOHC's are notorous for blowing head gaskets, in fact every single one WILL blow one time in its life.
