chassis difference?
What is the difference between the GC-8 chassis and the GC-6 chassis?
I was looking at the VIN number of a 2001 impreza and instead of having the digits GC6 or GC8 it had the digits GM6. Is there any difference between the GM6 and GC6?

you said that the GC6 chasiss was the EJ25? on mine it says GC6 and i have a 1.8 impreza L. i always thought that the GC8 was the RS, the GC6 was a 1.8/2.2 impreza, and the GDB was the WRX? its that right or did i just get some wrong information somewhere?

That's kind of weird. What year is your car? Up until now I have never heard any variations on it. My VIN has GM6 in it, so I'm not sure why yours would too. I have seen 4 door RS VINs, and they say GC6. Try searching NASIOC, I recall a thread which showed the chassis desgnation for every Subaru made for wuite some time.
