I'm kinda surprised that nobody with them has posted yet. I would say that they are absolutely a good idea- after your smog check. Typically they don't pass, even "mild" cams. I have a set of Cobb mild cams for my '01, but I haven't put them on yet because I plan to use them for my turbo buildup with ported heads. I have seen some dyno charts showing gains of up to 19hp just from cams though. No low end loss either. In short, it's probably the single best power mod you can do on an RS, short of forced induction. And if you get mild or stage I cams, you can use them with turbos later.

When it comes to forced induction, more valve lift is good, but more overlap is bad. Most aftermarket cams increase both lift and duration/overlap, so it's kind of on a case-by-case basis. Those who have gone turbo on the Mild cams have generally been pleased with it. I know Tom at Ludespeed used to highly recommend using them with his kits. I'd definitely avoid the spicy or race cams though, as well as the TWE stage II cams.

Last I saw, Cobb cams were $500 +$400 core charge for your cams being returned. And yes, they do gain 19 hp up near redline. No more power falloff after 5000 rpm. Peak horsepower gain is about 12 hp I think.
