I am planning on just cutting the stock muffler off and welding on a 2.5" inlet muffler off Ebay for about $47. I know a guy who could weld it for me for about $50 when the manager isnt around. Is this a good idea? I mean, yea i was planning on saving some dough for a turbo back. However, I feel that my car is quick as it is stock. I have no means to race everyday. Matter of fact, its really hard to race in CT.lol. I just want a deep tone for my car. My friend has a 2003 Corolla and he put on a muffler off ebay and it sounds real mean....Any comments to stop me from making a possible regret/mistake? Also, the sellers of these items claim 5-10hp gains...is this true?

 

as for the 5-10hp, probably wont see it, also the build quality on most(not all) ebay sold mufflers is very low. they look to me like they will provide a more raspy tone than a deep rumble(not sure, just what it looks like to me)i wouldnt do it. just my .02
