Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

CAI in winter = no heat?

Hi guys,

Yup, the Canadian winter is fast approaching and I have a question...

In my old DSM, I had a CAI and during winter, I would get very little heat which I attributed to more air flow to the engine. Does this make sense?!?

I was wondering if I need to remove my CAI and reinstall my stock box for winter? Is this really necessary?

You guys in the lower half of the US of A might not know what I'm talking about! :-D J/K

Thanks.

Joe

Thankfully you now drive a subaru instead of a DSM, so the odds of something as crucial as the heater not working properly are much slimmer. What year and model is your car?

Whats this aboot? The cockpit heat has nothing to do with the intake heat. If you were having trouble getting warm inside your galant, it probably had more to do with the heater core than the CAI.

No, you do not need to remove your CAI and reinstall your stock box for winter. Your CAI will only draw cool air into the engine, making more power. It has nothing to do with the heated air in your cabin.

Subaru heaters are heated using engine coolant recycling. Your heater not heating well has to do with your coolant system. Go get he coolant flushed, that should fix it right up.
