CAI question
It's been really cold up here and will be for the next few months and my car just doesnt seem to be very happy with my ganzflo CAI anymore. my guess is its just too cold. so i planned on putting my stock piping back on. i start doing it and realize that all it does is suck from the engine bay, so is there any reason why i should even put the piping on. i could just leave on the airbox and filter and have it suck from a different spot in the engine bay. warmer air, no restriction, still filtering. please tell me if this is a bad idea.

Just take the duct from the ganz flow kit and have it suck air from up at the fire wall. It won't hurt anything and it will help start-up and warm-up (ever tried to start a cold dirt bike, all you need is a hair drier). Once the motor is warm the intake temp doesn't really matter except for power reasons. Of course colder is better to a point. Colder just means that is takes longer for the fuel to eveporate into the air/fuel charge evenly. But there isn't much time for that anyways. Clean your injectors and that should help some.

Haha, coincidentally, I just took all the tubing off my stock intake, just have the plenum and K&N left. I highly doubt I'm gaining any power and might even lose a little down low, but man it sounds SWEET over 4500! I can't wait to hear it combined with Borlas and Stromung dual tip! Hopefully I won't find out that there are other reasons besides NVH that Subaru's engineers put all that crap in there. Fingers crossed and grinnin' wide!
