cobb cai question - warning dumb
cobb cai question - warning dumb
Hmm, just bought used COBB cai...looks like its an older model (its been through two owners before me). The filter housing is kinda cracked and the small pipe that fits into is either missing a piece or doesnt fit so great on an 02 RS.
Question: can i remove that small tube and drive like that safely with a small performance decrease? (remove the piece connects the fender hole to the filter portion)
Question 2: will cobb sell me a new filter housing and small pipe connection & apparatus (the pieces that connects the filter housing to the fender) for a reasonable price (fyi: they wanted 140 for a new filter !!!) OR is there a cheap solution to either pieces - was there any change from older styles to new style cobbs? - the instructions dont line up perfectly with my cobb
As always! thanks guys

Question 1: You probably could but the filter will just be hanging creating some stress problems, and if it falls off the long J tube you are really in trouble.
Question 2: A cheap alternative to replacing the small tube to the fender is getting some tube/piping from Home Depot or Lowes and getting it to fit onto the filter housing. I bet it would only be a couple of bucks to do that too.
The filter housing itself I dunno...but I think you might be screwed there....seems to be Cobb exclusive as far as I have seen. Unless you can manage something from Lowes or Home Depot.
I guess a question for you is did it come off an 00 or older RS or did it come off an 01 and up RS?....The difference is the map/maf sensor thingy..
...That should be the only difference but I don't think Cobb has come out with a design for the older models.....so I would guess you either installed it incorrectly or it is bent or something strange.
Hope this helps some.
