Thumbs down 2.5Rs Cobb Cold Air Intake Help!!

Hey, i recently got a cobb cold air intake for my 2003 rs. i put it in and it works great, you can really feel an increase in high end power. but i had a few concerns which hopefully someone who has the same intake could help me with:

1. my O2 censor didnt reach to the hole for the intake... so i made the wires a little longer, making it reach fine, but the check engine light went on. when i put my stock intake back in, the light went off and everything was back to normal. so i know extending the wires didnt cuase the light to come on or the o2 sensor to break, its the intake (im assuming since its sucking in alot more air at different temps, etc). is there ANY possible way of getting the check engine light to shut off (without pulling the bulb or putting tape over it :-p ) ?

2. ive never used a CAI before in any of my cars, but my old car i had a ram air intake set up on it (SEEMS VERY similar to this set up, filter -->pipe-->engine. this CAI intake makes my impreza sound like the muffler fell off, its SO LOUD!!! on my old car it was a little louder, but the sounds my impreza make when i give it a little gas are just downright obnoxious. is there ANWAYS of quieting this down at all? or is it just supposed to sound like im reving a chainsaw whenever i drive go above 3000RPMs?

thanks for reading my longwinded questions. i was looking foward to using this intake becuase i heard great things, but am kinda disapointed with it. so im hoping someone else might have had similar problems/concerns and could help me with it so i can use mine!

thanks alot!

1) Try resetting your ECU by disconnecting your battery. The Cel should go off then. If the light comes back on you should definately contact Cobb abou the air intake and Cel. They might have given you the wrong one considering there are a couple of different cold air intakes for the various RS's.

2.) There is no way of silencing the air intake.

The only way to silent/muffle the CAI might be to wrap some foam/insulation around it to stop the resonance. If you're rich, you can try some Dynamat.

I have the COBB CAI as well, and when I step on it, the whole car just screams... I have definitely scared people before with it.
