2.5L Radiator Cooling problem!
Hello all, need some help from all of ya.. Here are the facts:
2.5l 1998 108,000 miles, new radiator cap, and thermostat...
after driving on the freeway for about 45 minutes when i get off the freeway after about 2 minutes i notice that the care is overheating and behind me is a trail on coolant. I turn the car off and see that indeed coolant has been shot out the vent line in the reseviour. Fill with water and after a few moments again starts to over heat, turn the heater on and the car cools down very fast. This has happened a few times in the last few days, never happens just for city driving... so what do u guys think? new radiator?
Erik

Is it a factory thermostat or radiator cap ? I had a STi Radiator cap on for about a week and my car was heating up pretty bad, I went to the shop and the dealer said that it was meant for a racing radiator and was meant to release under certain amounts of pressure. So in other words mine was letting all the cool water out and pumping hot in. Good luck.

Probably trapped air. Turn on heater, put front up on ramps, remove rad. cap, run car til fans come on. Add coolant, put cap on, make sure overflow has coolant.
Let car cool, check o'flow for proper level. Drive car and double check o'flow after the first few drive cycles. If it still overheats you may have a bad waterpump or bad headgaskets.

Head Gasket.....This is the first stage of denial! Haha. I had the same thing about a year and a half ago. My car is still off the road. However, it will be a damn monster when it actually gets back on the road.

well i tried to remove the air, but then noticed that one of the fans was not turning very fast and was really loose. Come to find out that the right fan has a locking nut that was loose and just needed to be tightened and all is well now.. thanx for everyones help.
