I would start out with an ECU reflash. COBB and ECUTek have great offerings that will get you about 25-30 hp at the wheels, which is a really nice improvement, especially for ~$700 Then add a turbo back exhaust and an aftermarket fuel pump (maybe another $1500) and you'll be making big power

Agreed,
Good advice.
But i haven't heard of fuel pumps being needed till a turbo upgrade on a STI?

I would do a tuebo-back exhaust followed by the cobb accessPORT (with the stage 2 map) I dont know what it does for an STi, but on a WRX it'll boost HP from 227 to about 285 (someone correct me if I'm wrong...) happy modding and welcome to the suby family (unless you previously had a suby, in which case, welcome back).

Power-wise, I did the following:
-Gutted OEM DP w/Perrin cat back.
-Cobb AP stage 2 map
-Injen Intake.

All of this took my stock 227whp to 267whp.
In the next 2 weks I'm going in for a custom tune to take full advantange of the water/alcohol injection setup.
That should take me to about 300whp.
